13th President Dong Hwan Kim Inaugurated at Seoul National University of Science and Technology
- Successful inauguration ceremony held on January 17 (Wed) at the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall on campus
- The 13th President of Seoul National University of Science and Technology will serve until December 25, 2027
 

□ The inauguration ceremony of the 13th President, Dong Hwan Kim, of Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) took place on January 17 at 11 A.M. in the Main Auditorium of the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall on campus in Gongneung-dong, Seoul.
 
□ Attendees on the day included Congressman Young Jin Koh, presidents from various universities as well as former presidents and alumni association presidents, faculty and staff, and student representatives from SeoulTech.
 
□ In his inaugural speech, President Dong Hwan Kim expressed his goals for the growth and development of SeoulTech, including: ▲ growing into a center for future-oriented global research, ▲ fostering convergence talents required in the AI era, ▲ building a university brand that members are proud of, ▲ creating a vibrant campus culture, ▲ and fulfilling SeoulTech’s role as a responsible member of the community.
 
□ President Kim stated, "There is a saying that if you go alone, you will go fast, but if you go together, you will go far. As a public university, we will not only serve as a center of knowledge, but also as a cradle of social innovation that represents service and mutual benefit through close ties with the local community."
 
□ President Dong Hwan Kim, who majored in Mechanical Engineering, graduated from Gangneung High School (19th Class) and Seoul National University (Bachelor's and Master's degrees). He also earned his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the United States. Previously, he served as a special researcher at the Engineering Research Institute of Seoul National University, a Director at the Seoul Techno Park, a Center Head at the Engineering Education Innovation Center at SeoulTech, and the Chairman at the University and Faculty Council. In 2024, he was elected as the 68th President of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers.
 
□ SeoulTech has been enhancing its capabilities as the only nationally comprehensive university in Seoul since its transition to a general university in 2012. The university aims to foster continuous symbiosis and development with the local community. SeoulTech envisions growth as a university where faculty, students, and staff collaborate and communicate effectively while emphasizing interdisciplinary education and research.
