SeoulTech Food Engineering Major Hosts a Craft Beer Making Event with Local Community Members
Event hosted to promote national craft beer and interest in SeoulTech

SeoulTech held an educational session on making craft beer for Nowon-gu local residents on October 7th at the SeoulTech Creation Hall Room 206.

SeoulTech’s Food Engineering Major hosted and expanded the educational session to local community members to take part in the craft beer course that was previously only offered to students as the national craft beer industry continues to grow quickly.

For four sessions over three weeks, the program was held in a laboratory with brewing and fermentation equipment and participants were taught the beer production process including grinding, mashing, lautering, sparging, boiling, chilling, fermentation and bottling.

Kim Hae Young, a resident of Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu said, “I participated in the course to take on a new challenge. I was excited as it was an opportunity to learn more about beer and the production process.”

Food Engineering Major Professor Kang Sung Tae, who taught the program, said, “As the COVID-19 crisis left many in their homes, more people are drinking and we hoped that this educational program increased interest in domestic craft beer and community interest in SeoulTech as well.”
