Independent Student Organizations
Introduction
The Student Council is directly elected by all the students of the university in accordance with the regulations that were set by the council. With the university motto of “sincerity, cooperation, and creativity,” the Student Council aims to cultivate competence as democratic citizens through democratic student activities, promote independent development by creating a university culture, and develop skills to contribute to the society and democratic national development.
Structure and Function
Permanent Organizations
To accomplish its purposes, the Student Council forms the General Student Council, Student Representative Council, Expanded Operation Committee, Central Operation Committee, Central Executive Committee, College Student Council, Club Association, University Newspaper Editorial Committee, General Graduation Preparation Committee, Student Welfare Committee, and the Department Student Council. A formation of new organizations other than those mentioned above should be reported to the Student Representative Council and have an approval for it to be guaranteed of any right.
General Student Council
The General Student Council is the top legislative organization that discusses and decides important matters that are related to the development of the university and the entire student body.
Student Representative Council
The Student Representative Council consists of directly elected representatives who are acknowledged by the Central Executive Committee, and it is the next largest decision-making organization after the General Student Council.
Expanded Operation Committee
The Expanded Operation Committee is a permanent decision-making organization, and it is composed of a Student Council Central Operation Committee, the vice president of each independent organization, the student vice president of each college, and the student president of each department.
Central Operation Committee
The Central Operation Committee is a permanent decision-making organization, and it is composed of the president and vice president of the Student Council, the president of each college, the chairpersons of the Student Welfare Committee, Female Student Committee, and the Night Student Committee, and the president of the Club Association. When an executive is recognized as necessary for the Central Executive Committee or the Central Operation Committee, he/she can participate in the assent of 2/3 or more of the committee members.
Central Executive Committee
The Central Executive Committee is composed of the president and vice president of the Student Council and the head and vice head of each executive committee. It is the top enforcement organization of the Student Council.
College Student Council
The College Student Council is the top legislative organization of each college. It consists of all the members of each college, and it is the top decision-making organization of each college.
Club Association
The Club Association consists of central clubs that are registered in the association, and it is a representative organization for the democratic independence of all the clubs in the university. Its president and vice president are appointed through a direct election, and its president becomes a member of the Central Operation Committee as a representative of all clubs. Its president is in charge of all business services that are necessary for the independent activities of clubs.
Student Welfare Committee
The chairperson and vice-chairperson of the Student Welfare Committee are elected by the representatives of each department’s class, and the chairperson becomes a member of the Central Operation Committee. Other matters that are necessary for the autonomous activities of the Student Welfare Committee follow the committee’s autonomous regulations.
Permanent Organizations
General Graduation Preparation Committee
The General Graduation Preparation Committee is a permanent special organization that is in charge of services regarding graduation and employment. It consists of the chairperson of each department’s Graduation Preparation Committee and some graduating students.
University Newspaper Editorial Committee
The University Newspaper Editorial Committee is a permanent special organization of the Student Council that is in charge of all business affairs that are related to the publication of the university newspaper. It has autonomy in editing and budget execution for its identity and professionalism.
Special Organizations
University Autonomy Promotion Committee
The chairperson of the University Autonomy Promotion Committee is appointed by the Student Council and approved by the Student Representative Council. Its purpose is to research and implement projects regarding the overall education of the Seoultech, and it has autonomy in management for its identity and professionalism.
Budget Compilation Committee
The Budget Compilation Committee is in charge of consulting with the University Budget Compilation Committee regarding the overall finances of the school. It consists of the vice president of the Student Council and one directly elected representative of each independent organization and college. It has one working staff member, and the vice president of the Student Council assumes the role of chairperson.
Night Student Committee
The Night Student Committee is a special organization that represents night students, and its chairperson is appointed by the Student Council and approved by the Student Representative Council. It is in charge of the general affairs for the activities of night students, and it has autonomy in management.
Female Student Committee
The Female Student Committee is a special organization that represents female students, and its chairperson is appointed by the Student Council and approved by the Student Representative Council. It is in charge of the general affairs for the activities of female students, and it has autonomy in management.
Financial Audit Committee
The purpose of this committee is to audit budgets and accounts, and it executes an audit for independent student organizations. Its chairperson is elected from the representatives of each class who is registered for two semesters or more, and it is approved by the Student Representative Council.
