Professor Hak Yeon Lee of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, elected as a member of the Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST) for 2024

□ Professor Hak Yeon Lee of the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) has been elected as a member of the Young Korean Academy of Science and Technology (Y-KAST) for 2024.
 
□ The Korean Academy of Science and Technology has selected 26 young scientists who have distinguished themselves by publishing outstanding research in the fields of science and technology as the 2024 Y-KAST members.
 
□ Professor Lee was elected as a member of the policy department, and is the first Y-KAST member from Seoul National University of Science and Technology.
 
□ Y-KAST members are selected from outstanding researchers under the age of 43 who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievements, with a focus on evaluating accomplishments achieved as independent researchers in Korea after obtaining a doctoral degree. The selection aims to identify emerging leaders in science and technology who are likely to contribute significantly to the advancement of science and technology in South Korea.

□ Professor Hak Yeon Lee is a globally recognized researcher in the field of technology management and data business, which combines engineering and business. He has pioneered research in the field of innovation intelligence through the development of data-based technology prediction techniques for discovering promising technologies.
  ◦ Professor Lee has published 45 papers in SSCI and SCIE international journals, with 16 of them ranking in the top 10% in terms of impact factor, and 31 papers in journals listed by the Korea Research Foundation. He has conducted a total of 31 research projects with private companies and government-funded research institutes.
  ◦ He has also worked to popularize knowledge by publishing the book "Managing Like Netflix."
 
□ Professor Hak Yeon Lee stated, "I am pleased to be recognized for the research achievements of SeoulTech's Data & Business Innovation Lab and the Department of Data Science. As a member of the policy department, I will contribute to shaping national science and technology policies."
 
□ Professor Lee received his Ph.D. from Seoul National University in 2009 and joined the Department of Industrial Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology in 2010. He is currently the Director of the Data Science and Business Potential Education Research Group, a BK21 Phase 4 national educational research center in the field of big data, focusing on industrial engineering and data science research and human resource development.
