Title Undergraduate student Hyeong-geun Song of the Department of Food Science and Technology of Seoul National University of Science and Technology wins silver medal at the “Eighth Korea Traditional Liquor Best Sommelier Contest”

Undergraduate student Hyeong-geun Song (advisor: Professor Sung-tae Kang) of the Department of Food Science and Technology of Seoul National University of Science and Technology won the silver medal in the college student section by winning second place at the final round of the “Eighth Korea Traditional Liquor Best Sommelier Contest” held at Hotel President in Jung-gu, Seoul, Korea, on December 30. Song passed through the preliminaries held at Kyung Hee University on December 16 and was 1 among 20 finalists who competed in the final round. 

 


“Participating in club activities as the chairman of a club researching drinks and liquors of the Department of Food Science and Technology and dutifully studying for classes of my major in 2017 greatly helped me prepare for the contest,” Song said in his award acceptance speech.

 

The “Korea Traditional Liquor Best Sommelier Contest” is a contest of selecting the best Korean traditional liquor sommeliers so that they would play the role of making widely known the excellence, history, and tradition of Korean liquor with expertise not only in Korea but globally. It is supported by the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation .
