On January 13, 2025, Seoul National University of Science and Technology (Seoul Tech; President Kim Dong-hwan) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with PHENIKAA University in Hanoi, Vietnam to strengthen mutual academic exchange and cooperation. Under this agreement, both universities agreed to promote continuous student exchanges, joint research, and expanded academic collaboration, aiming to reinforce their global partnership.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Professors Hwang Yoo-hoon and Kim Da-sol from Seoul Tech’s Department of Environmental Engineering, alongside faculty members and key officials from PHENIKAA University.

Following the agreement, the two universities jointly conducted global capstone design activities. The event provided a platform for senior environmental engineering students to present their research findings, with participants from both institutions sharing outcomes through poster and oral presentations. Outstanding researchers were recognized with awards, and discussions on research environments and cutting-edge technological trends took place during laboratory tours at PHENIKAA University. Various team-building activities also gave students firsthand experience of the value of international collaboration.

This global capstone design initiative was supported by the Environmental Technology Research Institute, funded through the LINC 3.0 project and the University-Based Research Institute program in science and engineering. Through this experience, students engaged in academic exchanges with an overseas university and expanded their global cooperation networks. Moving forward, both universities plan to deepen their academic partnership by fostering student exchanges and joint research initiatives based on this MOU.
