SeoulTech Students from Construction System Engineering Department win Silver Medal at 6th Engineering Industrial Design Competition

Presented project to resolve energy and resources supply and demand problem using deep sea heat pipes

The 2018 Engineering Day Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce was held at the 63 Convention Center on October 18. SeoulTech students from the Department of Civil Engineering Engineering, Moon Joon Hyuk and Park Byung Hyun, were awarded the silver medal in the 6th Engineering Industrial Design Competition at the event.

The Engineering Industrial Design Competition, which celebrated its 6th anniversary this year, changed its name from The Imagination Design Competition. It invites innovative design ideas incorporating technology trends that can be realized in the near future.

More than 450 people, including winners of the Prime Minister Awards and the Gold Tower Orders of Industrial Service Merit, attended the commemoration ceremony.

In particular, the award-winning project, “Dealing with the Energy Resources Supply and Demand Problems of Marine Cities using Deep Sea Heat Pipelines,” devised a facility that generates energy using deep sea hot water spouts to solve the problem of energy supply and demand. The project received high praise from the judges for its process and logic. The projects presented were also acclaimed for their self-sufficient equipment layout and specificity.
