Nine Professors Retired at Da Vinci Pavilion on September 3

SeoulTech held the retirement ceremony for nine full-time professors at Da Vinci Hall on September 3.

President Kim Jong-ho delivered a government award to the nine professors, and he also presented them with appreciation plaques. The ceremony was attended by students and faculty members who wished to congratulate the professors.

The nine professors retiring were Professors Kim Eon-gum, Kim Doo Hwan, and Kim Yeontae from the Civil Engineering Department; Professor Kim Chan-oh from the Safety Engineering Department; Professor Lee Sara from the Creative Writing Department;  Professor Ryu Chun Keun from the School of Liberal Arts; Professor Cho Hyunseok from the Public Administration Department Professor; Na Sung-sook from the Design Department; and Professor Anthony David Johnson from the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department.
 

In his speech, President Kim said: “A famous proverb suggests that the scent of flowers goes miles, while the scent of man goes on for a century.” He added, “As such, our professors’ honor and passion will remain in SeoulTech and in our hearts for a long time. Our students and faculty members will continue to share the love and passion that the nine professors here have shown.”

“I am honored to open the retirement ceremony for nine honorable professors.

First of all, I would like to congratulate the professors, who have made great achievements in our nation, in society, and within the university, and who are retiring honorably today after making priceless contributions to a lifelong approach to education and research: Professors Kim Eun-gum, Kim Doo Hwan, Kim Yeontae, Kim Chan-oh, Lee Sara, Ryu Chun Keun, Cho Hyunseok, Na Sung-sook, and Anthony David Johnson. Distinguished guests and dignitaries! Staff and students! I am especially grateful for your presence to celebrate the professors here.

The nine professors celebrated today have devoted themselves to the development of SeoulTech throughout the swirling changes the years have brought. They have participated in various academic activities and produced countless excellent research papers and publications. Through this, they have not only enhanced their respective fields of study, but they have also greatly contributed to the rise of our institution.

A famous proverb suggests that the scent of flowers goes miles, while the scent of man goes on for a century. As such, our professors' honor and passion will remain in SeoulTech and in our hearts for a long time. Our students and faculty members will continue to share the love and passion that the nine professors here have shown. I would like to congratulate you again today on your honorable retirement.
