Jointly held with College Students Design Convention and International Invitational Exhibition

The 2018 Spring International Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Design Science was held on Saturday June 2 at SeoulTech’s da Vinci Hall. In addition, the College Students Design Convention and International Invitational Exhibition were held at the same time. The Korean Society of Design Science (president: Professor Ko, Yeong-jun of SeoulTech) holds the International Academic Conference twice a year. The International Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Design Science has become Korea's largest academic event in the design field.
Professor Kim, Won-seop of SeoulTech and Professor O, Yeong-geun of Yonsei University worked as co-commissioners for the organizing committee. Various academic events were held based on the theme Design Education and Research: Now and Future.

The opening ceremony started with an opening address by President Ko, Yeong-jun and a congratulatory message by Jeong, Geon-yong, SeoulTech’s vice-president. Keynote speeches were given by Professor Dennis Doordan, co-editor of the international journal Design Issue, and Kim, Tae-main, deputy department head of the Korean Intellectual Property Office. Oral and poster presentations sessions of regular articles, special sessions about various topics, tutorial sessions, and company case presentation sessions were subsequently held. The International Invitational Exhibition held in the museum located on the second floor of the da Vinci Hall and in the LG Electronics company booth displayed various design works.

In addition, five articles presented by undergraduate students from the Department of Design of SeoulTech won awards at the College Students Design Convention, which was held concomitantly with the International Academic Conference. SeoulTech saw the largest number of awardees as a single college. The article presented by Jeon, Da-yeong and three other seniors from the Department of Design (Advisor: Professor Choi, Jeong-min) received the Excellence Award. Kim, Min-geol (Advisor: Professor Jeon, Yang-deok), Lee, Seon-min (Advisor: Professor Jeon, Yang-deok), and Liu Jingye and another (Advisor: Professor Ko, Yeong-jun) respectively received the Participation Awards, and Lee, Hyeon-jin and two others (Advisor: Professor Ko, Yeong-jun) received the Poster Presentation Award.
