Advanced Water Treatment Research Center of the Environmental Engineering Department Received the Award for Excellence in Academic Papers
Receives Award at the Korea Water Environmental Research Committee and the Korea Water and Sewage Research Committee’s Joint Academic Research Presentation

SeoulTech College of Energy and Biotechnology Master’s candidates Seo Young Kyo and Kim Hyo Won (Advising Professor Hwang Yoo Hoon) received the Excellence in Academic Papers Award from the Korea Water Environmental Academic Committee on March 21st.

The award was presented for their academic paper released at the Korea Water Environment Research Committee and the Korea Water and Sewage Research Committee’s Joint Academic Research Presentation for their oral presentation on “Solidification of Prussian Blue Using Granular Activated Carbon with its Surface Improved by Organic Polymer Particles and the Removal of Cs+“ (Seo Young Kyo, Kang Sung Won, Kim Young Seok and Hwang Yoo Hoon) and their poster presentation on the “Development of Cellulose Filters with Prussian Blue for the Effective Absorption of Radioactive Cesium in Nuclear Accidents” (Kim Hyo Won, Wi Hyo Bin, Kang Sung Won, Kim Young Seok, Hwang Yoo Hoon).

The joint academic research presentation was held from March 22 to March 23 on the subject of “Healthy Water Cycles: Diversity, Distribution and Integration” in order to discuss issues regarding the establishment of healthy water cycles.

Seo Young Kyo and Kim Hyo Won received the award for their oral and poster presentations on the development and application of material able to selectively absorb radioactive cesium. Their research was conducted through a joint study with the Korea Construction Technology Research Institute.

Seo Young Kyo and Kim Hyo Won are currently conducting research on water treatment and nano materials based on environmental engineering under the guidance of Professor Hwang Yoo Hoon at the Advanced Water Treatment Research Center of the Environmental Engineering Department.
