Lee Han-Sam (under the supervision of Professor Shin Hyun-Sang) from the Environmental Restoration Chemistry Laboratory of the SeoulTech Graduate School of Energy and Environment received the POSTER AWARD in the 19th International Conference of the International Humic Substances Society (IHSS) held in Varna, Bulgaria from September 16 to 21.
 

Lee Han-Sam participated in a poster presentation about photo degradation characteristics and the effects of submerged particulate organics titled “Characteristics and effects of the photo-dissolved organic matter from suspended soil organic matter.” Lee received the POSTER AWARD awarded only to the top three among 110 total presentations.
 

This conference is hosted by the IHSS every other year. Professors, business people, and students involved in natural organic matter (NOM)—including Humic Substances (HS)—present and discuss research projects.

The IHSS is currently present in over 30 countries around the world (mainly in the United States) and has about 20 locally organized Humic Academic Societies.
