Introduction of Student Council

The Student Council is elected by direct election of all students attending university in accordance to the regulations set by the council. With the university motto of sincerity, cooperation, and creativity, the Student Council aims to cultivate competence as democratic citizens through democratic student activities, promote independent development by creating university culture, and develop skills to contribute to society and democratic national development.

Structure and Function of Student Council

  • Student Council
To accomplish its purposes, the Student Council forms the general student council, student representative council, expanded operation committee, central operation committee, central executive committee, college student council, club association, university newspaper editorial committee, general graduation preparation committee, student welfare committee, and department student council. In forming new organizations other than above, it should be reported to students representative council and obtain approval to be guaranteed of any rights.
  • General Student Council

    The student council is the top legislative organization which discusses and decides important matters related to the development of the university and entire student body.
  • Student Representative Council

    The student representative council consists of directly elected representatives acknowledged by the central executive committee, and is the next largest decision-making organization after the student council.
  • Expanded Operation Committee

    The expanded operation committee is a permanent decision-making organization and it is composed of a student council central operation committee, vice-president of each independent organization, student vice-president of each college, and student president of each department.
  • Central Operation Committee

    The central operation committee is a permanent decision-making organization and it is composed of the president of student council, vice-president of student council, president of each college, chairperson of student welfare committee, chairperson of female student committee, chairperson of night student committee, and president of club association. When an executive is recognized to be necessary for central executive committee or central operation committee, they can participate with the assent of 2/3 or more of the committee members.
  • Central Executive Committee

    Central executive committee is composed of the president of student council, vice-president of student council, and head and vice-head of each executive committee. It is the top enforcement organization of the student council.
  • College Student Council

    The college student council is the top legislative organization for each college. The college student council consists of all members of each college, and is the top decision-making organization for the college
  • Club Association

    Club association consists of central clubs registered in the association, and it is a representative organization for the democratic independence of all clubs at the university. The president and vice president of the club association are appointed by direct election, and the president becomes a member of the central operation committee as a representative of all clubs. The president is in charge of all business services necessary for independent activities of clubs.
  • Student Welfare Committee

    The chairperson and vice-chairperson of the committee is elected by the representatives of each class (of each department), and the chairperson becomes a member of the central operation committee. Other matters necessary for autonomous activities of the student welfare council follow the autonomous regulations set by the student welfare council.

  • General Graduation Preparation Committee

    The general graduation preparation committee is a permanent special organization in charge of services regarding graduation and employment. It consists of a chairperson of graduation preparation committee for each department, and members of graduates-to-be.
  • University Newspaper Editorial Committee

    The university newspaper editorial committee is a permanent special organization of the student council in charge of all business affairs relating to the university newspaper publication. It has autonomy in editing and budget execution for its identity and professionalism.

  • University autonomy promotion committee

    The chairperson is appointed by the student council and approved by the student representative council. Its purpose is to research and implement projects regarding the overall education of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and the committee has autonomy in management for its identity and professionalism.
  • Budget compilation committee

    Budget compilation committee is in charge of consulting with the university budget compilation committee regarding the overall finances of the school. It consists of vice-president of student council, and 1 directly elected representative of each independent organization and college. It has 1 working staff member and the vice-president of the student council assumes the role of chairperson.
  • Night student committee

    Night student committee is a special organization representing the night students, and the chairperson is appointed by student council and approved by student representative council. It is in charge of general affairs for the activities of night students, and has autonomy in management.
  • Female student committee

    Female student committee is a special organization representing female students, and the chairperson is appointed by student council and approved by student representative council. It is in charge of general affairs for the activities of female students, and has autonomy in management.
  • Financial audit committee

    The purpose is to audit the budget and accounts, and it executes audit for student independent organizations. The chairperson is elected from the representatives of each class who is registered for 2 semesters or more, and is approved by the student representative council. Introduction to student council
